Shabbat morning services, Bar Mitzvah of Jesse Rubin

We will be celebrating the Bar Mitzvah of Jesse Rubin.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, including new members and those who have not previously attended our regular services.  Rabbi’s class students are especially encouraged to attend.


Our next Saturday morning  services will be May 31, celebrating the Bat Mitzvah of Rosa Tropp.

Lore Segal Reading at Middlebury College

Lore Segal will read from her work on Tuesday night, April 29th, at 7:30 in the Mitchell Green Lounge on the top floor of the McCullough Center.

Segal is a celebrated novelist and author of eight books for children, nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in 2009 for Shakespeare’s Kitchen, a novel.  Born in Vienna in 1928, she was among the first group rescued from Hitler during the Kindertransport mission.  Her stories about being a refugee were later published in The New Yorker and elsewhere.

Her stories of assimilation and struggle, in various forms and genres, have won her a wide, admiring audience and numerous awards and prizes. She has taught at Columbia, Princeton, and Sarah Lawrence, among other colleges.

This reading is sponsored by the Department of English and American Literatures and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference.

Shabbat services, April 11

Join us Friday night April 11 at 6:15pm for Shabbat services hosted by the Aleph Hebrew school class.

Following the service, Jane Steele will host an Oneg Shabbat in memory of her son, Matthew Power.

There will also be a Memorial Service for Matthew Power on Saturday, April 12th at 3:00pm at Mead Chapel. A reception will follow at Kirk Alumni Center.

Community Supper October 25

It’s that time of year….Havurah’s community supper at the Congregational Church. Community supper May 2011 bw
The menu will be our successful meatloaf.

We need the following:

  1. At least 10 members to provide ground hamburger
  2. Potatoes and carrots, veggies
  3. Delicious desserts
  4. Apples
  5. Volunteers for setup, serving and cleanup

We serve approximately 225 meals.
