Important Logistics

Schedule: Classes will meet during the year on Mondays, 3:30-5:15pm. The Post B’nei Mitzvah class will meet twice monthly on a flex schedule based on the availability of its participants. Assemblies: The entire school community: students, teachers and parents, meets each week from 5:00-5:15pm for assemblies that are both educational and engaging and help build our sense of community. Parents please plan to attend Hebrew School assemblies at the end of each class session. Students will gather in the social hall at 4:55pm and assemblies will run from 5pm to 5:15pm. We will do our best to end on time and to establish welcoming rituals with an emphasis on family learning. We understand busy schedules and juggling multiple priorities but we strongly encourage parents to attend as often as possible. It sends a message to the students that Hebrew School is a priority and helps to reinforce important values of community and family learning.

Snack: Every family is expected to provide snack at least twice during the school year. For convenience you may also buy something non-perishable and bring it to Havurah in advance. Label all snacks (“Hebrew school snack”) and include the date you would like it to be served. Snacks should be nut free and in single serving portions. The snack sign-up sheet will be available on the first day of Hebrew school and will be posted on the bulletin board after that. It will also be available on the Havurah website along with a resource guide of appropriate snacks.

Parking:  Our parking lot is open for drop off only. Please use caution while dropping your child off and do not park in the lot – the spots along the hedge are reserved for teachers and aides. The parking lot is closed for pick-up at the end of the day. Please allow time to park (upper lot at Swift House, Methodist Church, public spots) and walk to Havurah to join the closing assembly from 5:00 – 5:15p.m.

Participation: Each class will help lead 2 Kabbalat Shabbat Friday evening services throughout the year. This has become a wonderful Havurah tradition, strengthening community and friendships. Student service attendance is expected. Parents and families are encouraged to attend these Hebrew School Shabbat Services with their children. We will also be offering a diverse array of new service options and we encourage members and their families to attend!
